SUMMARY:
The Land Lease Representative will negotiate terms with our tower landlords for lease extensions/renewals. The incumbent will also negotiate amendments with our landlords for compound expansions and elimination of collocation restrictive provisions in the ground lease, as well as other transactions to secure and enhance our interest at our sites. This position requires strong negotiating, closing and organizational skills, and the ability to work in a time-sensitive and high volume environment. Other responsibilities will include obtaining permits and approvals from various regulatory authorities.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Negotiate terms with our tower site landlords for lease extensions/renewals, amendments for compound expansions and elimination of collocation restrictive provisions in the ground lease.
- Negotiate all lease terms within parameters set by Senior Manager Collocation and Site Development Services, Head of Operations and the Country Manager, but exercising independent discretion.
- Coordinate the drafting of negotiated deals with the Contracts Specialist, delivery of documents to the landlord and follow-up with landlord to ensure fully executed documents are returned in a timely manner.
- Works with the legal department and Senior Manager, Collocation and Site Development Services to determine the acceptable terms of leases.
- Produce weekly report for management on status of negotiations for extensions/renewals and collocation-related transactions.
- Obtaining building permits and environmental approvals from various regulatory authorities in coordination with the Implementation team.

- Strong negotiating skills
- Excellent negotiation/influence with over the phone contract negotiations
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Self motivated and able to communicate/coordinate with multiple deadlines
- Detail oriented, able to multitask and meet time-sensitive deadlines
- Ability to exercise independent discretion.
- Strong problem solving skills

- Knowledge of tower industry desired
- Ability to travel up to 15 - 20%
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- University degree required
- 5 years experience; industry experience preferred in the wireless, telecom or tower industry.
- Fluency in English both written and spoken, Luganda and Swahili preferred
